General Contractor Ponder TX: Home Remodeling, Kitchens & Additions
As the general contractor Ponder homeowners trust with their biggest projects, The JBN Group plans whole-home remodels, kitchens, and additions across this railroad-rooted small town. Every plan fits your floor plan, your lot, and how your family lives. One contractor you can hold to account, from first walk to final walk.
What a General Contractor Ponder TX Homeowners Trust Does on a Home Remodel
Ponder began in 1886 as Gerald, a townsite on land the Gulf, Colorado and Santa Fe Railway bought for its line toward Oklahoma. Because another Texas town was already named Gerald, the post office required a new name — Ponder, for prominent landowner William A. Ponder.
The town stayed small for a century. The Ponder Rodeo drew crowds from 1939 to 1950, and Ranchman's Café fed travelers on Bailey Street from 1948. Ponder incorporated in 1966 with about 208 residents. Today roughly 2,700 people call it home — and new subdivisions are expected to add about 3,000 homes in the next few years.
That mix shapes every remodel here. Older homes near the original downtown need careful updates that respect their bones. Newer builds mostly need personalizing. Acreage on the edges brings well, septic, and setback questions. We sort out which rules apply to your address before the design is final.
- ✓Design-build planning:layout, finishes, and budget locked before demo
- ✓Permits & jurisdiction:city or county rules confirmed for your address
- ✓Trade sequencing:crews scheduled so nobody waits
- ✓One accountable builder:you talk to us, not a new sub each week

Remodeling Services in Ponder
From older homes near the original downtown to new subdivisions and country properties, these are the four jobs we run most in Ponder — one builder accountable for each.

Whole-Home Remodeling
One plan for every room. We open up chopped-up floor plans, update tired systems, and rebuild homes around the way your family actually lives — while respecting what makes older Ponder homes special.

Kitchen Remodeling
The heart of the home earns the most attention. Bigger islands, real pantries, layered lighting, and storage that ends the clutter. Farmhouse style fits Ponder like it was born here.See our kitchen remodeling work →

Home Additions
Primary suites, guest space, home offices. On Ponder lots with room to grow, placing the addition around setbacks, utilities, and mature trees is the real work. We solve that on paper first.

Structural & Multi-Trade Work
Beam installs, wall removal, and full reframes — the jobs where electric, plumbing, and HVAC all move at once. Sequencing is the whole skill.
Not Sure Which Project Fits Your Home?
Tell us what is not working. The cramped kitchen. The bath everyone shares. The house that fit five years ago. We will say straight which job fixes it.
Remodeling in Historic Ponder & Beyond
Ponder sits at the crossroads of FM 156 and FM 2449 in west-central Denton County, northwest of Denton. The town began in 1886 as Gerald, when the Gulf, Colorado and Santa Fe Railway bought land for its line toward Oklahoma and platted a townsite. Because another Texas town was already named Gerald, the post office required a change — and Ponder was named for prominent landowner William A. Ponder.
The Ponder Rodeo became a community fixture in 1939, with everyone pitching in to build the arena. It moved to Denton during World War II gas and rubber rationing, came back in 1946 with a new 3,500-seat arena, and ended in 1950 when Denton started its own rodeo. Ranchman's Café opened on Bailey Street in 1948 and fed travelers for 75 years before closing in 2023 and reopening as Ranchman's by Marty B.
Ponder incorporated on January 28, 1966, with about 208 residents and Troye Webster as its first mayor. The population was 507 in 2000, 1,395 in 2010, and 2,442 in 2020 — with roughly 2,700 today. New subdivisions are expected to add about 3,000 homes in the next few years, bringing new families to a town that still feels like itself.
Homes here range from older houses near the original downtown to new subdivisions and country properties on the edges, most feeding Ponder ISD. It pays to hire a general contractor Ponder homeowners trust for all of it — someone who knows old framing, well and septic on country lots, and new builds alike.

Ponder Permits & Approvals
The Town of Ponder handles permits and inspections inside town limits through Town Hall at 102 W. Bailey Street (940-479-2396). Building, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical permits are issued for projects within the town — check with Town Hall on what your project needs before work starts.
Some Ponder-area homes sit outside town limits under Denton County rules, and country properties add their own checks: well and septic placement, setbacks, drainage. Most of Ponder feeds Ponder ISD. We confirm what your address requires before plans are final.

Ponder Remodeling Questions
How much does a whole-home remodel cost in Ponder?
Your Ponder home sets the price, not a chart. Our estimates start as low as $10,000. The price follows the work. New hardware and a quartz sink sit at one end; new cabinets, counters, and layout at the other. The only way to get your number is a free in-home visit, and it ends with a written estimate.
Do I need a permit for my Ponder remodel?
Often, yes. Inside town limits, the Town of Ponder issues permits for building, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical work — check with Town Hall at 940-479-2396 on what your project needs. Outside town limits, Denton County rules apply. We check the rules for your address before we start.
Can you remodel an older Ponder home?
Yes — and it takes a different touch than new construction. We check the framing, wiring, and plumbing first, then plan updates that respect the home's character. Many Ponder homes near the original downtown have good bones worth keeping.
What about well and septic on country properties?
Many Ponder-area properties run on private well and septic. Additions have to work around both — placement, setbacks, and capacity all matter. We map it out on paper before anything is final.
Planning Your Ponder Project
How long does a typical remodel take?
Kitchens and main baths: 6 to 10 weeks. Whole-home: 4 to 8 months. You get a true schedule up front — and first word if dates shift.
Can we live in the house during the remodel?
Most times, yes. We seal work zones, hold down dust, and keep a working kitchen or bath open. Full guts and rewires may need you out for a bit — we will tell you straight.
How do we start a Ponder remodeling project?
Call 469-312-0990 for a free home visit. We walk the house, hear what you want, flag permit needs for your area, and send a written scope and price. No push. No strings.
